PRIVATE IN-HOME TRAINING PROGRAMS

Clients MUST have completed our Level 1 foundation 4  week program first to develop basic skills and learn about leadership.

Your dog will live in the trainer’s home as part of our daily routine — not kept in a kennel. (Guidelines follow according to the owner’s schedule if crating is needed) We combine structured home living with real-world outings to dog-friendly businesses and parks (not dog parks) so your dog learns to behave calmly and confidently in everyday life.

Our Board & Train program provides 24/7 lifestyle training to build structure, obedience, and confidence.

🐕 Ideal Candidates
This program is best for dogs who need:

• One-on-one intensive training 
• Help with fear or anxiety 
• Correction for dog or human aggression 
• Strong foundational structure
   

⚠️ Severe aggression (“red zone” cases)  will be referred to a certified behaviorist.

🎯 Training Methods & Commands
We use balanced methods and, when appropriate, e-collar training.
⚡ E-collars should only be used when properly trained by a professional. Used correctly, they create freedom and clear communication.

Your dog will learn:

• Sit/Stay, Down/Stay
• Recall (Come) 
• Place 
• Threshold control (waiting politely) 
• Loose leash walking 
• Crate training 
• Behavior modification (lunging, biting, growling, anxiety) 
• Public socialization
• Leash Reactivity
• Manage aggression towards people and other dogs

📅 Program Structure

• Day 1: 60 minute consultation 
• Completion: Two-hour transition session to teach owner techniques 
• Follow-ups: 2-week session + 3-month check-in 
• Regular photo/video updates throughout the program

Together, we’ll build the structure, consistency, and calm leadership your dog needs to thrive.

• Clients (owners) are responsible for dropping off and picking up their dog unless other arrangements have been made.
   
• If someone other than the owner is picking up the dog must have a writen consent from the owner.
   

• Deposit of 50% when book your board & train 
• Payments can be made via Venmo, Zelle, Cash or Check. Fee  of 3.9% charged for credit cards.
   

DePaul K9 Academy is committed to providing a safe and structured training environment. However, owners must acknowledge that:

• All animals may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. While we take every precaution, DePaul K9 Academy is not liable for actions outside of our control.
   
• Kennel Safety: Owners agree to allow random stool samples to ensure a safe environment.
   
• Training Equipment: Owners must purchase the necessary training tools, including:
   
  • Herm Sprenger Prong Collars ($20-$59)
     
  • E-Collars (E-Collar Technologies) ($179-$225)

• Martingale or slip leash
   

• Owners agree to hold DePaul K9 Academy harmless from any claims, injuries, or damages occurring outside of our direct supervision. 
• Owners acknowledge that training involves physical activity, and minor scrapes or bruises may occur.
• Owner signs a veterinary release
• Board and Train contract
   

• Full payment is required at the time of booking for private one on one sessions. Board & Train Programs 50% required at time of booking, balance due when dog is dropped off.
   
• If a client chooses to discontinue training after receiving 50% of the services, no refund will be issued.

• Board and Train clients must notify DePaul K9 Academy 4 weeks prior to cancellation to receive a refund.
   
• If DePaul K9 Academy determines that a client is not following training advice, we reserve the right to cancel the contract and issue a partial refund.
   

• By participating in training, you grant DePaul K9 Academy permission to use photos/videos of your dog for training and promotional purposes.
   
• No compensation will be provided for the use of these materials.
   

1. At Our Facility: Your dog will stay in our home, not an outdoor kennel.
    
2. At Your Home: If you’re away on vacation or business, we can offer to stay in your home for training if schedule allows.
    

Please note:

• Dogs will engage in outdoor activities and socialization, which may result in minor scratches or wear and tear.
   
• Our facility is designed with safety and cleanliness in mind, but owners accept that minor incidents can occur.
   

• Dogs must arrive on a secure leash and collar that prevents slipping.
   
• Owners must maintain control of their dog during hand-off to prevent accidental escapes.
   

• To ensure a smooth transition, owners should not:
   
  • Hug, kiss, or use high-pitched voices when dropping off their dog.
     
  • Overexcite their dog before leaving.
     

To ensure a successful transition back home, we provide:

• 1-hour session for 7-day Board & Train
   
• 2-hour session for 14-day Board & Train
   
• 3-hour session for 28-day Board & Train

• Distemper 
• Bordetella 
• Flu Vaccine 
• Negative fecal float test (If there is a medical exemption, a note from your veterinarian is required.)

Off-Leash Training with Expert E-Collar Instruction

If you’re ready to give your dog the freedom and reliability of off-leash obedience, this program is for you.
We use state-of-the-art, low-level, communication-based techniques with E-Collar Technologies equipment. Our approach is gentle, humane, and highly effective, allowing for clear communication between you and your dog.

📌 All e-collar training must be taught directly by a trainer to ensure proper use and success.
 

• Low-Level Communication — We use the lowest effective level to guide your dog, ensuring a soft, gentle approach.
   
• Safe & Humane — Modern e-collars do not cause harm or pain; they provide a mild, adjustable sensation, similar to a gentle tap on the shoulder.
   
• Off-Leash Reliability — Enjoy more freedom and safety while ensuring your dog remains responsive to you.
   
• Ideal for Deaf Dogs — The vibration mode is an excellent way to communicate with deaf or hearing-impaired dogs.
   
• Positive Reinforcement-Based — We never use the e-collar as punishment. Instead, we pair it with rewards to reinforce desired behaviors and strengthen your bond.
