In the first session we will evaluate and discuss the energy and dynamics of the home and discuss type of training that is best suited for you and your dog(s). We will address the answers to the questions you filled out on our form. In our session you will be able to discuss any additional concerns you may have about training with your dog. It is important to keep an open mind during our evaluation. Putting all emotions aside, so we can discuss what is best for you and your dog.This way it will help you understand how to be the best leader your dog needs. In turn your dog will learn to trust you and follow your lead.

Program is designed for dogs that are not human or dog aggressive or have extremely high levels of fear and anxiety. These types of behaviors take more time to work out and a two week Train and Boarddoes not give the trainer or the dog enough time to to reprogram his/her mind.
In addition, obedience work will be enforced. Once the dog understands what you're asking with clear communication you will have a well-balanced dog.

This behavior modification consultation is to work with the behavior your dog is exhibiting and to determine the best plan to move forward. We need to remember these behaviors did not happen over night so your dog may need to be in a board and train program.

When I arrive I would like for you to do things as you normally do when someone comes to visit, so I will have a good idea at first impression how the dog reacts to people knocking on the door, etc.
Behavior Modification 2 Hours

RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP
As your dog's owner, you are responsible or his behavior, you should take any act of agressessive behavior by your dog seriously. You cannot make excuses for ANY incidence of fighting or other aggressive behavior. Try not to worry if your dog gets into a few harmless scuffles with other dogs. However, if your dog starts getting into a lot of seemingly harmless scuffles or participates in a sinle dangerous fight and inficts serious injury on the other dog or human, you should seek out the advice of your veterinarian, an animal behaviorist or a qualified dog trainer for help with your dog's behavior. If your dog is experiencing aggressive behaviors towards, dogs, humans or behaviors such as resource guarding (humans, toys, food, dogs, cats, kids or other items please fill out the form listed under Behavior Modification. If your dog is a RED ZONE case meaning excellerated aggression we will recommend a certified behavioralist.
Please be completely thorough in your answers on the form so the trainer can understand what is going on with your dog and also ensure safety to the trainer.
- This is a 2 hour session, we will customized to your dogs needs. We will evaluate what foundation you and your dog have to determine what plan and program best suited for you and your dog.
- Lessons are be held in the privacy of your own home or local parks.
- Lessons are conducted in an easy-to-understand method with time spent on exercises to build confidence in the owners’ ability to work with their dog and their dog’s confidence to achieve.
- Homework will be given for you to work with your dog on a day to day basis
- We feel it is important to focus on teaching owners the theory behind training, as well as understanding their dog’s behavior in order to create a strong bond for lasting obedience and create a path for future training.
- If your dog has shown aggression towards people we ask you muzzle your dog for safety for the trainer and the dog.

Trainer will visit your home each week for a 60 minute session with you. Homework will be given to work with dog. If the trainer feels that the client will not listen to training advice or follow instructions, DePaul K9 Academy can at sole discretion, choose to cancel the training contract and issue a partial refund.
Obedience certificate given at end of 4 week session if dog passes obedience criteria below:
14 WEEKS AND OLDER
- Sit/stay- one minute 25 feet away from dog, and dog does not break command
- Down/stay- three minute away from dog, and dog does not break command
- Heel on loose leash- no pulling, lunging
- Automatic sit- dog will automatically do a sit when you come to a stop
- Left/right and about turns
- Threshold work- dog learned to wait at door before enter/ exiting
- Lesson 1: “Come,” “Sit,” and “Extended Sit.”
- Lesson 2: “Place” and “Extended Place.”
- Lesson 3: "Heel" Loose Leash Walking, "Threshold Work"

Your dog learns how to have a calm state of mind and understand impulse control. We work with concept of the 3 D’s: Distance, Distraction and Duration. Keep in mind that a lot of the 1/1 training is 90% you and 10% trainer.
Private Lessons- You must notify DePaul K9 Academy in writing or by text within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment or you will be charged 1/2 of the session or the 4 week program. If after the 24 hour period and have not notified DePaul K9 Academy by text or email there are NO REFUNDS. We can freeze the remaining sessions within a 4 week timeline until you have more time to commit to your Pup.
Train & Board 7-day Refresh Obedience Work

This one week train and board is for previous clients that have trained with us. Or if we have have worked with your dog and need to have it stay a week with us for refresher to get back on track.
Going away? If your dog has worked with us before we offer a one week refresher on obedience and e collar work if your dog ha been trained on e collar. We can do this right in your home as well if you are going away. You will have comfort knowing your dog is safe in its on home.
We reinforce:
1. Your dog's obedience skills
2. Work on behaviors that he/she may have developed
3. Visit public places to teach how to have proper manners in public.
4. Daily structured walks
5. Impulse control using rules, boundaries, limitations.
6. If your dog has been off leashed trained (e-collar) we will continue your dog's foundation work if you desire.
Phone, Face Time/ Skype/Zoom Consultation 60 Minutes

If you live in a different location or locally, we offer face time/Skype/Zoom consultations. You will be able to chat with Carol in a one-on-one session about your specific issues at hand. During your session, Carol will address and assess your situation and coach you on plenty of strategies to work with and implement into life with your dog.
Please fill out the enrollment form for either 14 weeks and older form. Once you fillout the form the trainer will contact you to schedule your session.
Train and Board Policy
IMPORTANT
Board and Train dogs will be picked up & dropped off by the client (owner). Unless cleared by owner of other arrangements. Permission will need to be in writing if person other than owner picks up dog.

Once accepted for the Train & Board program and you book your time you will need to go online to pay through Venmo or contact me for payment. The full payment is due in order to secure your dog’s reservation.
WAIVERS ******General Policy******
- DePaul K9 Academy, will endeavor to create as safe environment as possible for the training and boarding care of the dog(s) identified as (the dog), and will offer a safe, sound and responsible training, care and post-boarding training instructions.
- Owner agrees, however, that all animals may exhibit unpredictable behaviors and that DK9 Academy will not be liable for the actions of the dog that are outside the control of DK9 Academy training.
- Owner agrees to allow random stool samples to insure safety of the kennel.
- Owner agrees that the recommendation by DK9 Academy training of any product or service is NOT a guarantee of performance or Owner's satisfaction with that product or service.
- DK9 Academy agrees to indemnify and hold Owner harmless from and against any claims of injury, expense, costs, loss of damages caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of DK9 Academy training while the dog is in sole custody, care and control of DK9 Academy training.
- Owner acknowledges that DK9 Academy has no control over the dog when the dog is not in the exclusive custody, care and control of DK9 Academy training.
- Owner agrees to indemnify and hold DK9 Academy training harmless from and against all claims of injury, expense, costs, loss of damages caused by the actions of the Dog when the Dog is NOT in the sole custody, care and control of DK9 Academy training.
- Owner fully understands the tools and techniques that are used to train and modify the behavior of their dog and agrees to the tools and techniques which include Prong Collar, Bark Collar, Remote Training Collar, Slip Lead, Pet Convincer, Muzzles, Flat Buckle Collars, Martingale Collars.
- The collars will be purchased before the board and train. Herm Sprenger Prong Collars are $20-$59 and E-collars (E Collar Technologies) range from $179- $225, depending on the type of e-collar we are using for your dog.

Cancellation Policy: If the client chooses to NOT continue training after receiving approximately 50% of services, a refund WILL NOT be issued. If the trainer feels that the client will not listen to training advice or follow instructions, DK9 Academy can at sole discretion, choose to cancel the training contract and issue a partial refund will be given.
Photos/Video Release (All Clients)
I hereby assign and grant to DK9 Academy the right and permission to use, reproduce and distribute, and publish the photograph(s), film(s), videotape(s), audio and video recording(s), electronic representations(s) and/or sound recording(s) made of me and /or my dog(s) at any time during the training and/or boarding of my dog(s) by DK9 Academy, , and I hereby release DK9 Academy or any person that represents DK9 Academy from any and all liability resulting from such use, reproduction, distribution, and publication.
I hereby authorize the reproduction, sale, distribution, copyright, exhibit, broadcast, and/or electronic storage of any and all such photograph(s), film(s), videotape(s), audio and video recording(s), electronic representation(s) and or sound recording(s) without limitations at the discretion of DK9 Academy and I specifically waive any right to any compensation I may have for any of the foregoing.
Physical Activity Agreement:
Option 1-If your dog comes to my place, your dog will be staying in my home and not living outside in a kennel or crate. It will have time in it's crate throughout the day for training purposes.
Option 2- If I come to your home- I will stay at your home while you are away on vacation or business.
Your dog spends a good amount of time in the outside world doing lots of things around lots of natural objects, dirt, grass, cement, trees, fencing, bushes, swimming, interacting with lots of other dogs, and humans. It is likely that your dog is going to get scratched, bumped, or bruised. Your dog will most likely get some wear and tear on him/her. Things are bound to happen even though we have taken special care in designing our facility and maintaining a high standard of safety and cleanliness. This is just like when you were a kid going out to play and would come back home with scratches or cuts, because you were having fun and exposed to the outdoors.
As Owner, you acknowledge and understand that there are certain risks involved in pet training, boarding, and care. You release, indemnify, and agree to hold DK9 Academy harmless from any and all manner of damages, claims, loss, liabilities, costs or expenses, causes of actions or suits, whatsoever in law or equity, (including, without limitation, attorney’s fees and related costs) arising out of or related to the services provided by DK9 Academy.

Pick Up/Drop Off
Train & Board-dogs will be picked up at your home by trainer or dropped off by owner only, unless written permission is given to DK9 Academy for another person to handle your dog.
Pick Up- We will work with you and your dog to show you the type of work and training that took place while your dog was with us for train and board. We will also explain how you are to continue implementing the training into you and your dog's every day life.
Follow up Lessons- This will help transition of your dog back into your home and help maintain a high standard for behavior we have at our facility.

Drop Off-We will schedule a time for the drop off for T&B.
Your dog will need to be on a leash/collar that the dog cannot slip out of when getting out of your car and onto our property, then to a staff member. It is possible your dog will be scared, nervous or excited and this can lead to your dog trying to escape the collar and possibly running into the road which is unsafe, so be sure you have hold of your leash and the collar cannot slip off your dog.
The Hand-Off
When you get to our place or if I am picking up your dog and hand off the dog to us, you are NOT to hug your dog, kiss or bend down and make high pitch sounds to your dog, this just causes your dog to get too excited about your leaving. We want

Rabies, Distemper, Bordatella, Negative Fecal Float and Flu Vaccine. If there is an issue with one of the vaccinations with your dog, please bring note from your veterinarian.

E-Collar Training (Off-Leash) 4 week $760
If you choose to do off leash training we offer e collar instructoin. We specialize in state-of-the-art, low-level, communication-style using E Collar Technology E-Collar training. Our E-Collar program is very effective and the most soft and gentle remote training to communicate with your dog. The collar has different levels, we work with low level pressure on and off and is most effective and the most humane approach to dog training.
This collar is a great tool for dogs to be trained off leash and found to be most effective for dogs that are going deaf or are deaf. Deaf dogs need to be retrained on hand signals and different ways to approach them, so they do not feel threatened. There is a vibration mode that works great to train deaf dogs on this tool.
To understand about the term "shock collar" for some has a negative connotation. Many people incorrectly assumethat shock collars cause physical harm or lasting damage to a dog as a form of punishment. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Electronic collars are designed to get your dog's attention NOT as a form of punishment. When used in combination with positive reinforcement, E collars provide the feedback that dogs need to learn when to pay attention to the handler. E collars do not burn or cause lasting damage to a dog. We ONLY recommend you using an E collar or any other training tool with an experienced trainer to teach you.
Each dog that is trained with an e-collar we us top-of-the-line! Mini Educator E-Collar, as well as a Herm Sprenger prong/training collar. The Herm Sprenger are the best prong collars on the market. Prong Collars range from $20-$50 depending which one is chosen.
*Prices do not include e-collar or prong collar. The e-collar ranges in price from $179.00-$289.00, depending on the needs of your dog. We will discuss at the training session.
