Introduction to what to expect with your new puppy
Private In Home Training- 60 minute sessions- 4 weeks
Puppies 8-20 weeks of age- THIS IS A VERY CRITICAL TIME FOR PUPPY
We are glad you decided to enroll in our puppy class. The puppy class is the most important class you will attend with your dog, because it sets the foundation for forming good habits for a lifetime relationship between you and your puppy, that in no time grows to be the adult dog. By setting the foundation you will have a well-balanced dog and a peaceful home.
The timing between 2 and 4 months is short, but very important. Broken down into behavioral phases, this is a critical time of the socialization period. Time for intense bonding, this is the time when you need to allow your puppy to soak up as much of the world as possible. The socialization is the foundation fore his/her life.
So what is learned in this early time (the rules)will be the basis for all knowledge in the future. This includes teaching the puppy that you and all other humans in the home are the leader, so it is important to understand the leadership skills required for you to have a successful trained dog. If you do not take the role of the leader the puppy will assert herself/himself as the leader and dog will be difficult to train and bad behaviors will develop.
The class is designed to teach you effective management and handling skills and to develop a puppy’s confidence, attention, response and respect for its family.
It is so exciting what your puppy can learn from a puppy class.!
Getting a new puppy is exciting, but a little scary at times when you are not sure where to start; especially if you have never owned a dog. From the very moment you bring your puppy home it is important that you set boundaries. It is important for your puppy to learn good bite inhibition, which means teaching your puppy to have gentle jaws. Puppies need to build their confidence and social skills for interacting with other dogs and people, to enjoy being handled by strangers.
This program is perfect for puppies 8 to 20 weeks of age. Puppies at the age of 8-12 weeks are too young to fully benefit from obedience work, but are still very impressionable and able to understand many positive things through being consistent with routine and repetition! They may not be able to hold an attention span like the adult dog, but beginning with some basic training will start your puppy off right.
By teaching the above commands your puppy will learn to respond quickly and reliably to verbal cues to come, sit, lie down, stand and stay in the midst of heavy distractions and without the reliance of training aids. This program gets things in motion for your puppy to go right into obedience training.

ALL BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAMS ARE PRESENTLY BOOKED 5 MONTHS OUT
Our Board & Train Programs are a lifestyle training program, we work with your dog twenty four hours a day, seven days a week at our facility. The programs are designed to give your dog a strong head start by removing bad habits, help diminish anxiety and fear issues. Learn impulse control.
We put a strong routine into place for both dog and owner.
We work on rule, boundaries and limitations and manners the dog should have when in company of other people. We work on real life, real world situations to teach your dog how to behave.
The purpose for the board and train programs are for dogs that need the one on one constant training, exhibit anxiety, fear anxiety, dog aggression, fear aggression towards other dogs and people as well as structure and obedience.
You will bring your dog to my facility and your dog will be trained in its basic obedience commands. We work with your dog to be off-leashed trained. To do this we will train with an e-collar to have your dog be successful. The program is effective and includes day to day structure, rules, socialization, and supervised play.
This program includes a 1 - hour consultation on the first day, at the end of the program plan to be together for a 1-2 hour follow-up where we will transfer all of the information, techniques, and strategies to you to insure continued success, then a 1-hour follow-up two weeks later along with a 3 month follow up.
Commands that will be taught are: sit/stay, down/stay, recall (come command), place command, threshold control (waiting to go out a door, load in and out a car), walk politely on leash, crate training, how to change dogs state of mind from fear and anxieties that resulted in lunging at humans and other dogs, biting humans/dogs, growling and pack order by implementing leadership skills.
To ensure that you are successful we pick real life situations for your dog that teaches him to stay focused on you, walk at your pace, learn how to ignore distractions . All breeds are welcome regardless of size as long as they do not have a red zone bite history towards humans.
**If your dog has real severe aggression issues, I will recommend a trainer that works with red zone cases on a day to day basis.
Our board and train programs offers an intense training program, 7 days a week. The program is developed to eliminate unwanted bad behaviors and create structure for your dog by implementing obedience on a daily routine, that will be successful for you and your dog. Your dog will be trained to understand boundaries, rules, socialization and supervised playtime with other dogs.
During your dogs stay it is at the trainer’s home. All exercise, play, and training is conducted under the trainer’s direct supervision.
Trainer will stay in touch with you throughout the Board and train by sending videos and photos of work that is being done.

DePaul K9 Academy's two-Week obedience Board and Train experience is our most popular program! It's an intensive lifestyle program that is effective by working with your dog 24/7 in our training routine. Includes daily structure, obedience, rules, boundaries and limitation, socialization, and supervised play.
For owners who are looking for excellent obedience (under high levels of distraction) as well as to improve their canine-human relationship.
After completion, owner will receive a 2 hr one-on-one session to detail and show owner everything dog has been learning, and how to properly handle them.
If your puppy is younger than 6 months in this program he/she will learn puppy behaviors such as crate work, housebreaking, chewing, door manners learning how to properly walk on a leash, working with behaviors in public places, impulse control, bite inhibition, socialization.
Program is designed for dogs that are not human or dog aggressive or have extremely high levels of fear and anxiety. This is because these types of behaviors take more time to work out. A two week Board and Train does not give myself or the dog enough time to to reprogram his/her mind. In our programs we focus on obedience as well as behavior rehabilitation. It is important to have your dog in a calm state of mind in order to achieve them to hold their commands around some basic distractions. This is because the dog is not in a calm state of mind.
In addition, obedience work will be enforced. Once the dog understands what you are asking with clear communication you will have a well-balanced dog.
This behavior modification package is for dogs with severe behavior problems like:
Please contact me so that we can discuss the severity of your dog’s aggression to determine of this is the right program for your dog.
We would all like this corrected in just a week's time, but it does not happen that way, it was not overnight your dog developed this issues so you can understand it will take time to correct the problems through intense training on a day to day basis. These dogs need to learn howto trust in your leadership but implementing rules, boundaries and limitations. This can only be accomplished by removing the dog from the environment which they are accustom to and places that may trigger those behaviors. By putting them in a home where there is structure from the beginning and with a balanced pack, this is the beginning of re-shaping your dog's state of mind and how he sees the world. Included with this board and train you will receive the basic skills that are in the two week program along with a 30 minute consultation on our first meeting day. At the end of the program you will have a 2-hour follow-up so we can go over all the information , techniques and strategies to help you the transition back to your home for you and your dog to have success as you move forward. Within 1-2 weeks after your dog goes home we will meet for a final 2 hour follow-up.

Your dog will need to be on a leash/collar that the dog cannot slip out of when getting out of your car and onto our property, then to a staff member. It is possible your dog will be scared, nervous or excited and this can lead to your dog trying to escape the collar and possibly running into the road which is unsafe, so be sure you have hold of your leash and the collar cannot slip off your dog.
When you get to our place and hand off the dog to us, you are NOT to hug your dog, kiss or bend down and make high pitch sounds to your dog, this just causes your dog to get too excited about your leaving.

We specialize in state-of-the-art, low-level, communication-style using E Collar Technology E-Collar training. Our E-Collar program is very effective and the most soft and gentle remote training to communicate with your dog. The collar has different levels, we work with low level pressure on and off and is most effective and the most humane approach to dog training.
